the story

ICA Group was launched as a private, family-owned company. The members of the Paniccia family remain a very active part of the business to this day, thereby ensuring continuity in the management, maintenance and pursuit of the corporate mission, with a specific, constant focus on quality and innovation.

ICA, specializing in the manufacture of wood coatings, is founded in 1971 by Claudio Paniccia.

Over the course of the following decade, the company carries out its first major expansion operations.

In the early 1970s, ICA creates its first R&D laboratory, employing highly specialized technicians to ensure that the company's products remain aligned with the technological and production requirements of its clients.

In the 1980s, ICA starts working on coating products with low environmental impact. In 1983, the company produces its first water-based coatings, intended as a valid alternative to solvent-based coatings for furniture, frames and shutters.

In 1995, the range of bicomponent water-based coatings formulated by ICA receives the European Community's LIFE mark, in official recognition of the group's “sustainable long-term development” targeted towards the reduction of atmospheric emissions.

ICA is the first Italian company in the wood coatings sector to attain Quality System Certification for its global corporate processes, in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard.

Since 1999, Dun & Bradstreet (a global leader in business information) has given ICA its RATING 1 “High Level of Reliability”.

In 2002, the production of the entire range of water-based coatings is transferred to a new, 5,000m² facility. ICA Group inaugurates its new Research & Development laboratories, covering a total area of 3,700m² and including chemistry and physics labs, application labs and training rooms.

In 2004, ICA acquires the wood coatings arm of BASF Coatings, giving rise to a new company by the name of Salchi Wood Coatings.

In 2005, a new warehouse, dedicated to the storage of finished products, is opened. The 10,300m² facility is located on a 25,600m² site.

Since September 2005, ICA has been in a position to sell its products directly in Germany, thanks to its first direct sales subsidiary, located in the town of Heek.

ICA attains Environmental Management Certification in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 international standard.

ICA Group establishes ICA Iberia in order to reinforce its presence in Spain and Portugal, allowing it to provide more direct sales and technical services to the Spanish and Portuguese markets.

In February of the same year, ICA obtained the OHSAS 18001 certification, covering both the headquarters in Civitanova Marche and the Italian branches.

During the same decade, ICA Group strengthened its presence abroad by setting up several companies with the aim of enhancing its direct technical-commercial services. This is how ICA China, ICA Deutschland, ICA Polska and the Indian ICA Pidilite were born.

In 2015 ICA Group launched a new lab entirely dedicated to its customers, designers and planners, called Lifelab. A place for gathering inspiration and carrying out tests where we put technology, knowledge and research at your disposal.
