Research and development

ICA’s first R&D lab was established in the early 1970s.

In 2003, a new, 3,750 m2 facility was created. This facility plays host to chemistry and physics laboratories, application labs and training rooms. Naturally, all the furniture in the facility is coated with water-based products.

Chemistry laboratories.
In the research laboratories the specialised technical staff analyse the quality of the raw materials used and carry out severe tests on any new materials, and finally test the finished products.

Testing centers.
A whole wing of the new Research an Development labratories is dedicated to the application of the products. All the most important and most commonly used painting machinery in the coatings industry are installed, permitting testing of the products in varyng application conditions, and also giving the opportunity for the client to evaluate the products from an application point of view.

Training rooms.
ICA’s Research & Development Department is divided into several laboratory teams. These teams of chemists, researchers and analysts work in synergy at all times.
R&D activities are focused mainly on the following areas: coatings, pigments, colorants and preservatives. The labs deal with quality control of the raw materials and finished products, conducting practical tests that are used to determine the suitability of a given product to various application systems.
