Company profile
ICA, a specialist manufacturer of high-quality wood coatings, was launched in 1971.
Over the course of the following decades, the company implemented several expansion programs: 1974 saw the initial expansion of the ICA facilities within Industrial Zone B in Civitanova Marche.
In the 1980s, ICA started working on coating products with low environmental impact.
In 1983, the company produced its first water-based coatings, intended as a valid alternative to solvent-based coatings for application on furniture and door/window frames.
In 1994, a part of the manufacturing operations was transferred to Industrial Zone A.
In 1995, ICA’s water-based, bicomponent coatings range received the LIFE mark from the European Community in recognition of the “long term, sustainable development” shown by the company in relation to reducing atmospheric pollution.
In 1998, through the Certiquality-Certichim certifying body, ICA attained Quality System Certification of its global corporate processes, in conformity with UNI EN ISO 9001 standards.
In 2002, the manufacturing plant for the production of the entire range of water-based coatings was transferred to a new, 5,000m2 facility.
In 2003, ICA Group inaugurated its new Research & Development laboratories, located in Industrial Zone A in Civitanova Marche.
In 2004, ICA acquired the wood coatings arm of BASF Coatings, giving rise to a new company by the name of Salchi Wood Coatings: among the primary objectives of the takeover was the relaunch of SALCHI, a longstanding brand in the wood coatings sector.
In July 2006, ICA passed a series of environmental inspections carried out by the Certiquality certifying body.
ICA has demonstrated the conformity of its own Environmental Management System with UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 international standards, and is now certified not only for the systems it uses to ensure quality but also for its environmental policies.
Since September 2009, ICA Group has had a presence in Spain thanks to the newly established ICA
IBERIA company, based in Benicarlò. Amongst the main objectives of the company is the enhancement of
the positioning of the parent group's commercial brands in Spain and Portugal through the sale of the range
of water-based coatings and UV coatings (marketed under the ICA and Salchi brands). At the same time, a
subsidiary in Lucena is now operational, which is managed directly by ICA Iberia. Moreover, ICA Iberia also has a depot in Barcelona.
Today ICA Group is a dynamic organization with 345 employees and over 8000 customers.
The company’s four manufacturing facilities, fully computer-controlled, offer a total of 42,000 m2 of manufacturing space and, taken together, the three sites cover a total area of 130,000m2.
ICA has been serving its customers for decades through the production of a range of high-quality coatings that offer total reliability. The company has always placed great emphasis on research and development, in order to deliver technical solutions that respond effectively to the ever-changing requirements of the market.
In its commitment to meet market demand at all times, ICA has worked hard to develop excellent relationships with its customers, continuously evaluating their needs and, in the process, building up a global knowledge base. This, in turn, allows our experts to supply the customer with comprehensive, highly effective technical support services.
However, ICA does not limit itself to identifying the expectations of the client – for more than ten years, it has been studying low-risk coating products, and has been pro-active in its endeavors to convince the industry and the wider public of the virtues and the validity of this type of product.

Our efforts in this area have had positive results, in terms of both official recognition and customer satisfaction. By substituting traditional paints and varnishes with water-based alternatives, the customer’s conformity to the prevailing regulations on atmospheric emissions of volatile organic compounds is assured. |
