Conformity with these guidelines guarantees the effective management of all operations that may have a significant impact on the surrounding environment (atmospheric emissions, waste water, refuse, noise pollution, etc.).

The certification was awarded to ICA's facilities in Industrial Park "A" at Civitanova Marche, and covers all of the following operations: research and development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution of water-based and solvent-based wood coatings produced through processes of dosing, mixing, dispersal and grinding.

The LIFE mark, awarded by the European Community to ICA’s range of bicomponent water-based coatings, represents official recognition of the ‘solid and sustainable development’ demonstrated by ICA in relation to reducing atmospheric pollution.

Since its inception, ICA has shown itself to be acutely aware of environmental issues, and for this reason has devoted a great deal of time over the years to the study of water-based coatings. These days, the ICA range of water-based coatings is so extensive that it can offer viable solutions to a wide spectrum of customers.

ICA is the undisputed leader in the development of water-based coatings. The company has formulated a bicomponent polyurethane coating with characteristics that more than stand up to any comparison with traditional, solvent based products. ICA’s research in this field was presented to the European Commission as one of the leading practical examples of the LIFE (l’Instrument Financier pour l’Environnement) program, an initiative launched for the purpose of giving financial incentives to organizations engaged in ‘solid and sustainable development’.

The central objectives of the LIFE programme are the control and reduction of pollution in its various forms through ‘clean’ technologies. ICA’s was the only project in the coating products sector to receive an award – the products developed by ICA were shown to work effectively towards a reduction in atmospheric emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and in particular Volatile Organic Solvents (VOSs).
